  • “We needed Aly to design an office refit for our financial planning firm. It used to look like a jaded hospital ward with all the colour and personality that you would expect from a financial adviser. But in truth, that isn’t us and Aly latched on to this!

We needed the space to be more practical and to be used better, as well as just looking great. This involved extending internal offices, making the whole look and feel of the office more relaxed, comfortable and friendly too. It’s been a delight to see the results and we are already noticing increased productivity from being able to use our space better, have more client meetings and deal with people that are infinitely more relaxed due to the surroundings. “

    - S Rowe, Lucent Financial Planning

  • “San Stae brought experience and enthusiasm to the interior design element of the conversion of a Grade II* Listed building in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. She advised on the appropriate finish across the whole of the interior ensuring this was not only sympathetic to the heritage of the building but also delivered a quality and design to satisfy the demands of the discerning residential market to which the building was targeted. All this was done in line with the budget, with Aly advising on where best to spend the available finance to achieve the optimum finished product.“

    - Hanehouse Developments on Great Hampton Street Works

  • “We worked with San Stae to help design and furnish our accountancy office in Worcestershire following a major structural refurbishment. We took things right back to the brickwork and moved a few walls around, so Aly had a totally clean slate from which to provide us with a number of design ideas and then help narrow in to our chosen final plan. San Stae were then with us through the entire journey, visiting site a number of times throughout the project to ensure things were on track and provide additional pointers or ideas where needed. We really valued the input from start to finish and are extremely pleased with the end result. We get many complimentary comments from our clients too.”

Architectural drawings of the Peoples' Hall on Loveday Street, showing front elevations to Principal and Loveday Streets with detailed building stonework, windows, doors, and rooflines.

We begin by reviewing all project information including architectural plans, budgets, programme and site context to fully understand the brief and commercial parameters. A site visit and initial meeting with the client and design team helps define the vision and project scope. We also develop an Interior Design Accommodation Schedule and Purchaser Profile to clarify spatial requirements and target audience. This stage ensures the design direction is commercially grounded and strategically aligned from the outset.

Interior of a lounge or waiting area featuring an orange sofa, a wooden bar-style counter with three stools, and a white wall with four modern wall sconces illuminating the space. There are also wooden dining chairs against the back wall and large green leafy plants adding a natural touch.

2. brief & early concepts

This stage sets the creative direction of the project. We develop early 2D and 3D design concepts, alongside a Design Intent document defining the overall look, feel and material direction of the scheme. Initial layouts, sample boards, and spatial ideas are tested and refined in collaboration with the wider design team. A client review session is held to agree the concept direction before moving into detailed design.

Architectural plan and 3D rendering of a co-working space, featuring a cozy seating area with a green bench, a kitchen banquette with barstools, a layout plan of the space, and detailed front and side elevations of the double corner booth and work bar.

3. design development

Here we begin to refine layouts and specify all key elements including kitchens, bathrooms, joinery, lighting, finishes and materials. We work closely with suppliers to source products, obtain samples, and align with budgets. All information is translated into drawings, schedules and visualisations for client review and approval.

4. detailed design

The concept is developed into a fully detailed design with all design information consolidated into a complete tender package for pricing and construction. This includes specifications, schedules, drawings and supplier details. We coordinate with the project’s QS and contractor team to ensure the scheme is fully costed, coordinated and ready for delivery on site.

We remain involved during construction to protect the design intent. This includes site visits, design team meetings, and coordination with contractors and consultants. We review queries, approve substitutions where needed, and ensure the design is delivered accurately on site.

5. implementation

Interior of a modern living space featuring a white brick wall, a large potted green plant, a wooden chair with a pillow and a throw blanket, a copper-colored sofa, abstract artwork on the wall, and a wooden dining table.

6. installation & styling

We oversee the final stages of installation to bring the project to its complete realisation. For sales or marketing-led schemes, we style show apartments, manage FF&E procurement, direct photography, and coordinate branding, signage, and wayfinding where required. The project concludes with a seamless final handover, ensuring every space is impeccably presented and fully launch-ready.
