Loom House, our first project delivered in the North of England, began with the furnishing of a show apartment for renowned developer, Urban Splash, within the wider East Street Mills estate in the heart of Leeds. Set inside a remarkable Grade-II listed former textile mill, the studio apartment had been beautifully reimagined by Manchester-based architect Maurice Shapero. Corrugated metal ceilings, linoleum flooring, and a pared-back plywood kitchen all paid homage to the building’s industrial past while still feeling warm, contemporary and playful.

Our role was to continue that story through the furnishing and styling of the space. We layered the apartment with pieces that responded gently to the architecture rather than competing with it. Handcrafted textile wall hangings inspired by the building’s weaving history, metal-framed furniture echoing the industrial detailing, and warm walnut accents to soften the harder materials. Glass lighting and reflective surfaces helped bounce light throughout the double-height studio, creating an unexpected sense of openness despite the compact footprint, while bold injections of colour brought warmth and energy into the space. The result was a small apartment with an enormous amount of character - thoughtful, tactile and deeply connected to its past life as a working mill.

“Aly often goes the extra mile with her attention to detail, and was even present during the photoshoot, actively assisting in capturing the flat from the best angles. I highly recommend Aly as an interior designer, as her passion in the field makes her a standout choice.”
